Some months ago the association Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Arrampicata Sportiva Arco srl, as the organiser and manager of the Rock Master Festival sports event, undertook the necessary steps to receive UNI ISO 20121:2013 certification for sustainable events management. This process was initiated thanks in part to the financial support the association received from the Alto Garda and Ledro community council and in particular from the Environmental Office. Sustainable events management takes into account a series of environmental, social and economic factors that include all those who, for various reasons, are involved in the event: employees, volunteers, sponsors, athletes, competition judges, suppliers of goods and services, sports clubs, public and private enterprises, the spectators and local citizens.
The evaluation carried out by the regulatory body DNV GL before, during and after the event confirmed that the steps adopted by association were the right ones and it is with immense satisfaction that we can now confirm that we have received official certification of sustainable management of the Rock Master Festival. This is one of the first sport events in Italy to be certified in accordance to the UNI ISO 20121:2013 norm.
Our immense satisfaction stems from having involved not only those who contribute directly to the organisation and management of this event, but also the numerous third parties who immediately grasped the potential of this project.
We are convinced that this result represents not an end but a basis on which to promote sport climbing and the Alto Garda Trentino territory. As such this goal can be used by the community to promote its offering that has become increasingly attentive towards the issue of sustainability.
The certificate was awarded with DNV GL, the company that evaluated our performance and also with Trento-based Master Net srl that accompanied us throughout the entire certification process. This encounter provided the opportunity to analyse the event data and also the results of 130 questionnaires answered during the event aimed at finding out more about opinions regarding environmental, social and economical issues.
