ROCK MASTER DUEL
A unique format invented in Arco, it has been fueling the final of Rock Master Festival since 2000. The 10 top athletes of the world are battling. They challenge one another on two same, parallel and extremely difficult routes. The first to get on top wins. After a first round of qualification, that also creates the couples for the first heat, the athletes battle in a series of duels with direct eliminations. The final round is the one for the trophy.
A spectacular mix composed by speed and difficulty: just a bit more than a minute to complete 25m of 8a. Strategy, determination, speed, explosiveness, action and will to fight until the very last second: these are the elements that create this infernal combination. The 2016 duel between Jakob Schubert and Adam Ondra has now become legend: it was won by the Czech climber with an incredible rush on the steep wall of Rock Master. Again, in 2017, Ondra, fighting against the Italian Marcello Bombardi, made the climb in less than one minute, for the first time ever. In 2018 still Ondra engaged in a duel determined by fractions of seconds with Sean Mccoll. As for the ladies, Janja Garnbret, from Slovenia, seems to be an undefeated Wonder Woman.
