OUR STORY GOES ON

After a forced stop in 2020, the Climbing Stadium of Arco is hosting the 34th Rock Master, the world’s most famous and long-running climbing competition.
It’s going to be not only the first big climbing event in Italy since the pandemic but also the first appointment after Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, where sports climbing is officially going to be a medal sport for the first time.
Arco and Rock Master have been since the very beginning a driving force in sports climbing. This year we want to write a new chapter of our story, something to explore even further.
There will be a new format: 16 of the world’s best climbers (8 men, 10 women), will compete in two spectacular climbing challenges – KO Boulder and Lead Duel. The two athletes obtaining the highest combined scores of the two races, win the title of RockMaster 2021.
Due to the Olympics’ rules, climbers are trained and excel in both lead and boulder: for the first time, we will see them competing, here, in both disciplines.
Lead Duel and KO Boulder are two unique formats that combine dynamism, explosiveness, suspense, and rapidity. That’s ideal for the members of a live audience, that helps the climbers push forward by rooting for them, and for tv spectators. Rai (Italian Broadcasting service) transmits the event live.
